Meet Jim Schmidt


Jim is the owner operator of the Surface Renewers, a company specializing in floor care, founded in 2017.

He worked in the education system for nearly 20 years. He started as a custodian with the Waterloo Region District School Board. He than worked as a Custodial Supervisor at Waterloo Catholic School District School Board (WCDSB) and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.
Jim completed a certification from Conestoga College in the discipline of Micro Computer Application specializing in AutoCAD, as well as a certification for Managers, Supervisors & Lead Hands.

Taking on leadership roles within his career, Jim has served as Chair for PASS, the representative group for supervisors and managers at WCDSB. He also served as President of the Kitchener Waterloo Shop Hockey League for 5 years.

His volunteering within the community has centred around coaching through the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association where he coached at numerous age groups and levels, including two seasons with the Major Midget AAA team.

Jim & his partner, Stephanie, reside in Kitchener with their 3 children.
